I was mainly focused on implementing User research in UNDP, especially after the CWP migration, and establishing new user interface and experience for UNDP. This allowed me to take ownership of the UX research process and tailor it to fit each project's specific requirements, continually developing my skills and knowledge. This versatility has enabled me to effectively find and implement optimal solutions for a range of projects at UNDP
User Research for UNDP
Notably, I spearheaded a main research project centered on the CWP corporate web project implementation. In 2021, UNDP transitioned to a new platform using Drupal to host approximately 170 sites within its cohorts. This pivotal shift necessitated extensive user interface adjustments, wherein my role primarily focused on conducting user research on the Drupal platform, ensuring seamless integration of the UNDP design system, and prioritizing end-user testing to uphold optimal functionality and user experience.
Methodology
01 Survey
A web form sent to UNDP website editors capturing their perceptions and experiences with the platform. The survey was the first touch point of research and will helped to surface participants for further research activities.
02 User Interview & Usability Testing
The team conducted user interviews by asking
open ended questions allowing editors to share their experience. Additionally, usability testing allowed the research team to develop baseline understanding of editors’ comfort and fluency using Drupal.
03 Data Synthesis
Following the research phase, the team worked to organize, categorize, and analyze the raw data. This synthesis surfaces patterns, and sheds light on the most important challenges users are facing.
04 Research Opportunities & Action Items
Following the conclusion of synthesis, the
team began mapping opportunities and action items atop the documented issues. These opportunities will inform the prioritization of issues for UNDP’s web development team.
Interviews | User Testing
We conducted more than 20 virtual interviews to gain a deep understanding of our end users. These interviews spanned various time zones and were conducted across 8 different countries worldwide. Throughout these interviews, we also conducted usability testing, carefully observing users, guiding them through tasks, and meticulously taking notes.
Miro Board for Data Analysis
Following the conclusion of synthesis, the team worked tirelessly together to map opportunities and action items atop the documented issues. These opportunities will inform the activities and prioritization of issues for UNDP’s web development team.
UX Report
Delivering user research findings to team leaders and cohort leads during the main UNDP bureau meeting is a crucial step in our project dissemination strategy. This forum provides an important opportunity to share key insights from our user research efforts, illuminating user behaviors, needs, and preferences. This collaborative approach facilitates the seamless integration of user-centric insights into decision-making processes, ultimately driving the successful implementation of our UX initiatives within UNDP
Project Summary
This project entailed a comprehensive overhaul of the UNDP job and career webpage to align with the organization's updated design system, emphasizing improved user experience and interface elements. Tasks encompassed refining navigation, typography, imagery selection, and job posting layout, while ensuring responsiveness across devices.
The outcome is a visually appealing and cohesive webpage that offers an intuitive and engaging experience for job seekers, in line with UNDP's branding and commitment to usability and accessibility. Throughout this project, I led the design efforts, focusing extensively on coherence and user experience enhancements to transform the UI to meet the standards of the UNDP design system.
